Tom completed his dentistry degree at the University of Otago in 2009 and went on to work in Northland as a Dental House officer. He is originally from Whangarei so this was a perfect way to reconnect with his hometown and learn the ropes in the field of public dentistry. He assisted the region’s oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the operating room and treated patients all over Northland in outreach clinics. He then spent several years working in private practice in Wellington before moving to Europe and backpacking his way through several countries over 5 years. He came back with a couple of new languages under his belt and a few good stories and then started a 9 month stint working back in public health in the far north, treating children from 1-10 years old, which became a bit of a passion.
Auckland was beckoning, however, and he made the move to Freemans Bay, and The Tooth Company Eastridge in 2019.
Tom’s main goal is that every patient feels at ease, listened to, and understands their mouth and their treatment plan,… which is all about communication.
Tom enjoys yoga, hiking, and Korean food.
