The Beauty Book took a visit to The Tooth Company to learn more about this popular kiwi dental practice. We met with Managing Director and Principal Dentist Dr Andrew Campbell to get insights.

The Tooth Company first began in 2011 when Dr Campbell had the vision for an exciting new concept in dentistry – a network of forward thinking dental practices in key locations around New Zealand. 2011 saw the opening of the original foundation clinic at Smales Farm, Takapuna. Following this success, a plan was developed to expand into the key Britomart precinct area in downtown Auckland City. 2013 saw the opening of The Tooth Company at Britomart which has since developed a
large corporate client based.

Patients now travel to visit The Tooth Company from all over Auckland!

At the time of writing, The Tooth Company has exciting plans to open further practices in 2014 including a brand new Paediatric Clinic and Orthodontic Clinic. Dr Campbell explains to the Beauty Book that ‘the principle goal of The Tooth Company is to break down the usual barriers associated with visiting the dentist, by creating a fun and inviting environment coupled with the country’s very best and up coming dentists”.

The Tooth Company specializes in Cosmetic Dentistry with multiple dentists practicing in this area, who are each passionate about their work. Dr Campbell tells the Beauty Book that “Cosmetic Dentistry can be very subjective. It’s important to listen to a patient’s needs, wants and desires before pushing ahead with a ‘one size fits all’ approach. The most beautiful smiles are the most natural smiles. A smile shouldn’t be a statement but rather a seamless blended feature of an individual’s beauty.

“Treatment planning is very important. I spend a large amount of time with patient’s tailoring plans. Some plans are as simple as tooth whitening with replacement of discolored fillings right through to extensive full mouth rehabilitations. Communication is something we highly value – effective communication and being able to empower our patients with knowledge which allows us to consistently achieve excellent results”.

“The Tooth Company Kids is also due to open within the Orthodontic site. We see a real synergy between Orthodontics (braces) and a solely kids focused clinic. This will allow a complete range of both treatments and clinics to suits all age groups. A ‘one stop shop’ – providing the ultimate convenience. The Tooth Company Kids will be an environment where kids can feel part of something special – and enjoy their early dental days, unlike the experiences of the past, ie The Murder House Days.”

The Tooth Company practices have been designed by Herbst Maxcey Architects. With a list of awards including NZ Home of the year 2012 this boutique firm were instrumental in creating The Tooth Company’s vision. The clinics each have common elements and branding, at the same time fitting into their unique locations and carry the full range of dental equipment to perform all procedures – Lasers, Cerec (computer designed teeth), Digital Radiography, Rotary Endodontics and much more.
Smales Farm has a very contemporary feel similar to a Scandinavian day spa, with light green glass hue and light oak flooring with an artic white clean finish. Patients feel relaxed from the moment they open the door. Britomart has a more rustic approach with recycled Rimu wood and exposed brick walls creating a boundary to two enclosed floating glass surgeries. The space is both fun and profession and a concept that is unique in dental design worldwide. Dr Campbell explains, “We enjoy the design process of the clinics and plan to make a real statement with the up and coming orthodontic and kids clinic”.

As for now, The Tooth Company is set preparing for the opening of their two new specialty practices in July 2014.
